Scientific Name Afzelia Quanzensis
Family Leguminosae (legume)
Other names: Pod-Mahogany, Mahogany Bean, Chanfuta, Peulmanhonia, Mkehli, Uvala, Papao, Pauconta, Lingue, Kpendei, Bolengu
Distribution: West, East and Central Africa
The wood: Heartwood reddish brown after exposure; sapwood pale straw to whitish, well defined. Texture moderate to coarse; grain straight to interlocked; medium luster
Seasoning: This wood dries slowly with very little degrade
Workability: This wood is very hard what means that all cutting tools must be appropriate.
Uses: This wood is used mainly for doors, windows, floors and staircases.
